The weather changes from hot to cold this week has made the fishing challenging at times, but there are still plenty of bass to be caught! Morning fishing has been slow with the afternoon bite being the best. Larger black flies stripped low and slow, and 3in-5in flashy baitfish flies stripped in erratically with short pauses have worked best on sinking line. Poppers have pulled in decent bass over structure, but is hit or miss.

The bass have been on absolute fire since the beginning of August. Big howitzer and double barrel poppers, in black or white, have been working from morning through the evening. Bass have been fairly predictable laying up under shade, or around structure in shallow water. A good secondary fly to have on deck would be a 3-5in bait fish pattern in white/grey, or chartreuse.
